I’m not sure what the weather is like where you live but the effects of “Andrea” have lingered for several days. It’s rainy and wet here in Lake Placid. We even had a tornado alert and stole away to the lodge for shelter until the all clear was given. That was not the end of the rain and wind and storm.
The young Sand Hill Crane family you see in the picture has taken up residence outside our Ministry Center Office. In the midst of the storm today with heavy rains and wind, I noticed a wonderful phenomenon. The mother crane with her very long legs was able to squat down over the two young chicks covering them with her wings. Both the mother’s legs and the chicks were not visible to the eye. The mother bore all the rain and cold. The chicks stayed nuzzled there until the storm passed. Then it was back to nose-diving in the sand for food.
Immediately, I thought of these words from the psalmist, “He will spread his wings over you and keep you secure. His faithfulness is like a shield or a city wall.” (Psalms 91:4 CEV). Today, I saw exactly what the psalmist meant when he wrote these words about our God. Are you feeling insecure today? Seek shelter under His wings.
Are circumstances more than you can bear right now? “All your circumstances are in the hands of God,” wrote Oswald Chambers, “so never think it strange the circumstances you are in.” Never forget! His faithfulness is like a shield. He’s got you covered! He will keep you secure even when the wind is blowing and the rain is pelting down.
