Compassion is alive and well among SFD Nazarenes. I had the privilege of giving the first of 1,500 pairs of shoes given by SFD people. The shipment of shoes safely arrived in Gros-Morne a month ago. The plan is to distribute the shoes as the children register for school in the Fall. But since I was back in Gros-Morne with Pascal Permis, Pastor Zamor gave me the privilege of giving out the first pairs of shoes as the pictures show. This will be such an incredible blessing to the children associated with the Gro-Morne church. Living in a country where everyone walks as the primary mode of transportation, new shoes will greatly benefit the kids who walk to school every day.
The Gros-Morne church as no parking lot. When it rains services must be canceled because everyone walks to church. Even Brother Zamor walks or rides on the back of a motorcycle to superintend his 35 churches. Does anybody out there want to buy him a motorcycle or 4wd vehicle? Yesterday we traveled two hours in our vehicle to Donis where we have a thriving church. By the time we got there the road had narrowed to a one-lane path. Pastor Zamor walked there for his last visit. If there is a place known as “the uttermost end of the earth,” I think we found it!
This current trip allowed some other blessings of note. I was here at the start of the church’s 40 days of revival and renewal, and there on the last day. The Holy Spirit moved in a powerful way. Not with seekers but with unrestrained praise. The glory of the Lord filled the place.
At the close of the service a young mother came up to Pastor Paul Johnson and asked if he would pray for her very ill infant boy. He took the child in his arms. The baby was burning up with a fever. Paul and I laid our hands on the child and prayed. Fever or no, Paul kissed the baby with the love of Jesus. We learned afterward when Pascal spoke to the mother that she had been to the voodoo priest and was told there is no life in the child. She should discard it. Instead she came to church and brought him to Jesus. There was no instantaneous, observable healing but the boy was alive when we left. Pray with me for another miraculous healing the results of which we may not known until eternity.
In that service there was a man on the platform who had been a voodoo priest but saved by the power of Christ. He is now a powerful preacher of the Gospel. By his own testimony had lived in the invisible world of Lucifer from age eight to sixteen. No one is beyond the reach of Jesus! The gospel is being preached and the compassion of Christ is ongoing.
As a direct result of this trip another fledgling church will have a new partner come alongside of it in Saint Marc. Teams traveling there will not have to leave the smooth road!
