It is with great urgency that I inform you that the Cuban government has made changes to the time it takes to process religious visas for those entering the country to provide volunteer work at our Nazarene churches.
The new requirement (starting immediately) mandates that visa applications be received 90 days before entry into the country.
Our plans for Southern Florida are to send a Work & Witness team of approximately 20 to Cuba from June 9 June 18, 2014. This new requirement means we must submit our group visa application to Bob Prescott (Nazarene Cuban Project Coordinator) by March 5, 2014 (which is next week)!!
Numerous people around our district have expressed interest in being part of this team going to Cuba (near Havana). We would sincerely appreciate you checking with all persons in your church who might be interested in this special project so everyone is aware of the new deadline.
The individual cost for each team member is $1,300. This will include: a) all government visa/exit fees; b) charter airfare service; c) lodging in a hotel; d) food at the hotel, restaurant or work site; e) ground transportation; f) insurance; and g) a small amount of spending money in local currency.
What we need by next Wednesday, March 5 is a completed application (attached are both a Microsoft Word version and a PDF version) and $100 all sent to District Work & Witness Coordinator Rev. Roy Shuck, 175 Huntington Dr., Naples, FL 34109. It would be best to email, text and/or call Pastor Shuck to inform him of what is being sent to him. His email address is: email@example.com and his cell phone is: (239) 285-4215. His home phone is 239-566-2262.
If a person is not sure of his/her schedule for June or has other uncertainties we highly recommend that he/she go ahead and submit an application anyway. We can delete names after March 5 but we wont be able to add names. A person could likely back out of the trip as late as early April and we would still be able to refund his/her $100 (until we need to pay for the visas @ $107 each).
The work of the team is likely to consist of construction work in pouring concrete (possibly to a 2nd story) and laying blocks. We anticipate being able to conduct a weekend Vacation Bible School in the area of the church. We will also have time to visit other churches and tour Havana. The Church of the Nazarene is literally exploding in Cuba. I have a PowerPoint presentation with more i
nformation about the project. If you are interested, I can email the PowerPoint file to you. My email address is: firstname.lastname@example.org. If you have questions for me, please call: 561-968-7845.
Construction Material Costs
So far 28 churches/individuals have contributed or pledged just over $9,300 to pay for the costs of construction materials for the Cuban church where our team will be working. We have committed to raising $12,000. If we had just 15 more churches or individuals who would pledge $200 each for this project we could exceed our goal. Can you or your church help us? Please let me know.
Thanks for paying your pledge as soon as possible. Send all checks made payable to: Southern Florida District, 2680 Placid View Dr., Lake Placid FL 33852. Mark checks Cuba Project.
Thanks for your help
Thank for letting the people of your church know about this once-in-a-lifetime-opportunity to visit Cuba and help our brothers/sisters in Cuba who have had little assistance for nearly 50 years. Remember, March 5 is the date when Pastor Roy Shuck must have all applications and $100 deposit so we urgently request that everyone act quickly.
but it is necessary to be very attentive what to rumple who it and whether there can be this person a swindler. after all and such happens. you don’t need which counterfeit production too much. simply it costs strongly cheaper.
