The Southern Florida District Celebrating Two Very Special Weekends!
The 100 congregations of the Southern Florida District are in the midst of two very special weekend celebrations. Tomorrow is Easter Sunday, the greatest celebration in the life of the Church. From Bradenton to Naples, from Port St. Lucie to Miami and the Keys, Nazarene congregations will be gathering to celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ! Many will be having sunrise services. All will be proclaiming the greatest news any has ever heard: He Is Risen! And because He lives, we have life eternal! It is time to celebrate!!
Then, just a few days later, we will be gathering from every corner of the district, to celebrate our annual Assembly and Conventions! We will be gathering, beginning Friday evening, at New Hope Fellowship Church of the Nazarene in Palm City.
Here are some of the details that will be helpful to you as you plan to attend:

Dr. Jerry Porter will be our presiding general superintendent again this year. Dr. Porter will be retiring at the General Assembly to be held in Indianapolis in June 2017, so we want to express our appreciation to him and best wishes from the Southern Florida District.
Dr. Porter will be joined by special guest, Dr. Mark Bane, who follows Dr. Bill Wiesman as director of church extension for the USA/Canada region. You will enjoy hearing from Dr. Bane. Also joining us will be Dr. Charles Tillman, who will be challenging us missionally on Monday afternoon. A very special international guest will be joining also from outside the country! Come and find out who it is!!
And Trevecca will be blessing us with the ministry of Redeemed! They will be singing both Sunday evening and Monday morning. You won’t want to miss the Trevecca presentation on Monday, as Dr. Boone reports on the new initiatives at TNU and the partnership with Eastern Nazarene College, and Michael Johnson participates as well.
This year is also the 20th anniversary year for Lake Placid Camp and Conference Center. Anthony Haney has prepared a special presentation that you won’t want to miss!
And I look forward to sharing my DS Report with you. We will celebrate what God is doing through our churches and pastors, and I also look forward to sharing the vision that God is laying on my heart for the mission field of Southern Florida. I believe our best days are yet ahead.
In the afternoon session on Monday, the Assembly will meet all of our pastors and hear some inspiring accounts of victory as each Mission Area presents highlights from the year.
This year we are trying to go “paperless” as much as possible. Please inform the delegates from your churches that they will need to access the Delegates’ Handbook and other materials on the district website at sfnazarene.org. The Handbook and other materials will be posted there late in the week of assembly. We will send pastors another email advising them of the posting of the materials. Pastors and church leaders, please pass this along as well to your delegates.
We will expect delegates to have read the reports prior to Assembly, so that we don’t spend time reading them in the Assembly itself.
Pastors, feel free to forward this email to your associates, district assembly delegates and any others who may want to know these details.
And remember our venue for both the Conventions and District Assembly:
