This morning I met with our District NMI Council to facilitate the ballot vote for a new District NMI President. The Council took its responsibility very seriously and, following a time of reviewing information about the candidates, the results of the Convention voting, open conversation and prayer, a vote was taken.
The NMI Constitution calls for a vote by ballot of those present and voting, to elect one person as president to serve for one year, until the end of the NMI Convention.
As a result of the vote, the NMI Council has elected Mrs. Diana Rambarran as the new NMI President for the Southern Florida District!
We congratulate Diana, who will be a terrific president! We covenant to support her in prayer, and to work in united fashion under her leadership, to advance the cause of global missions on the Southern Florida District and around the world.
We also express our appreciation to Mr. Rick Kiper, who was also nominated for consideration as president. The district expressed strong support for his giftedness and spirit, and he would have also been an excellent choice. It is wonderful to have multiple gifted individuals who are capable and willing to serve. Thank you, Rick! I have a feeling there will be a perfect place of service for you as you continue to find outlets for your (and Judy’s) missional passion.
The Council thought it would be a good idea to also report here the final numbers of the Convention voting, in the three ballots that were cast for President. Remember, the Constitution of the NMI called for a 2/3 majority (66.7%) to be reached for election in the Convention and we did not reach that before the Convention adjourned, thus necessitating the action by the Council today to elect a president.
Ballot #1 — Total Ballots Cast: 283 Needed to Elect: 188
R. Kiper: 140 (50%)
D. Rambarran 142 (50%)
Ballot #2 — Total Ballots Cast: 278 Needed to Elect: 183
R. Kiper 135 (49%)
D. Rambarran 143 (51%)
Ballot #3 — Total Ballots Cast: 288 Needed to Elect: 190
R. Kiper 126 (44%)
D. Rambarran 162 (56%)
I believe we have submitted this process to the guidance of the Holy Spirit and today can affirm, “It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us…” that we ask Diana Rambarran to serve as our next NMI President.
Diana has accepted, and we look forward to what God is going to do in the area of global missions under her leadership.
