Gordon MacDonald told the DSs gathered in Denver that Americans have been given the gift of time. Our lifespan has been extended from 45 years to almost 90. This is a huge problem for Social Security that was designed when Americans lived 65 to 70 years. Through good nutrition and good health care Americans can expect to live into their 80s. So, how are you going to spend your time? And while Im asking, how much of your time will you give to prayer and intercession?
Matt and Chantel McGee from Sonrise Mountain Ranch, who conducted our Family Weekend Retreat, reviewed four basic questions that deserve an answer in our lives. The questions were quite thought provoking: Will you choose a busy life or the full life? Do you want to raise good kids or godly kids? Do you want to pursue the American Dream or the Kingdom of God?
If we are going to live life to the full as Jesus promised in John 10:10, prayer must become a regular discipline of daily life. Same goes for godly kids. We must intercede for them and pray together with them. The prayer for the Kingdom of God is prayed every time we pray the Lords Prayer: Your kingdom come, your will be done. Will we devote all of our time and attention to achieving the American Dream of wealth and prosperity, or will we invest sacrificially in promoting the Kingdom of God on earth?
The 58 volunteers who served the families of Southern Florida gathered at Lake Placid this past weekend, invested heavily in building the Kingdom of God. They raised their own funds to get to come down and serve usincredibly, all 58 of them! So ask yourself this question? What deserves my best, my all? Let the Lord give you His answer as you ask Him.
