Depart, depart, go out from there! Touch no unclean thing! Come out from it and be pure, you who carry the articles of the Lords house (Isaiah 52:11). This call to personal holiness was reiterated by the Apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 6:17 when he said, Come out from among unbelievers, and separate yourselves from them, says the Lord. Dont touch their filthy things, and I will welcome you, and I will be your Father, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.
Before this Isaiah said, The Lord will lay bare his holy arm Who can stand in His presence or ascend to His holy hill when He shows His holy arm? Only those with clean hands and pure hearts (Psalm 15:1-2). In the NLT it reads, Those who lead blameless lives and do what is right, speaking the truth from sincere hearts. It takes the Holy Spirit empowering us to live life this way. If God requires it, then He must provide a way for it to be possible to live this way. The psalmist goes on in Chapter 15: people living holy lives refuse to gossip or harm their neighbors or speak evil of their friends they honor the faithful followers of the Lord, and keep their promises even when it hurts. They lend money without usury; refuse to accept bribes about innocent people. Such people may stand in the Lords presence and will stand firm forever. Make us people like that O God!
