On March 10th, Miami First Church of the Nazarene, celebrated 100 years of ministry. Miami First, the first Nazarene church in the state of Florida, was organized on September 16, 1913. The first pastor was Charles H. Weigle who organized the church with fourteen members. Since that historic day, the church moved to three different locations from a tent on the corner of Avenue J and 3rd Street, before coming to its current location on S.W. 147th Ave. Twenty-six pastors have served the congregation before the current pastor, John Pierre, who has served since 2003.
Several denominational servants have grown up in the congregation and gone on to serve with distinction. Pastors have been called; churches have been planted; ministry teams have been sent out. It was quite interesting to learn that C.H. Weigle, the first pastor was a hymn writer. Three hymns in the current “Sing to The Lord” hymnal are some of most favorite of all time: “I Love to Walk with Jesus,” “No One Ever Cared for Me like Jesus,” and “Living for Jesus.” The first district superintendent, Dr. Robert H. Spear Jr., was the 20th pastor of the church. His son, Jim Spear, grew up in the Miami First congregation and presently serves at our Princeton church.
The church has changed considerably across the years and is truly multicultural with people of Anglo, Haitian, Hispanic, Caribbean and Black American descent. Congratulations to Pastor John Pierre and the congregation as they begin the next century saving the lost, and perfecting the saints in holiness of heart and life.
but it is necessary to be very attentive what to rumple who it and whether there can be this person a swindler. after all and such happens. you don’t need which counterfeit production too much. simply it costs strongly cheaper.
