The primary resource person is Dr. Kathy Mowry, the lead Intercultural and Religious Studies professor at Trevecca Nazarene University. Before coming to Trevecca, Dr. Mowry and her husband served as Nazarene missionaries to Russia. She has become a noted authority on “Generation Z” (the generation born from the mid-1990s forward). She will also be bringing some of her top students to facilitate the very creative and thought-provoking activities involving all participants.
Dr. Mowry’s goal for the Amazing Race: Mission Edition is to “encourage all to run after the heart of God. See what He is doing in this world and then seek a path to follow Him.”
Youth leaders who want to clearly understand and advance today’s high school and college students are strongly encouraged to participate in this event as well. Dr. Mowry will have exclusive sessions with youth leaders.
The two Florida Districts conduct the Amazing Race: Mission Edition every two years as a special project for students and youth leaders. The previous two events impacted hundreds of students who were changed for good. Every church should have their top high school and college students attending this incredible impactful and challenging event.
NMI leaders for each church should seriously consider providing scholarships to financially assist students who want to attend the Amazing Race: Mission Edition! The $85 registration fees covers two nights lodging, 6 meals, and a portion of the other expenses. The two district organizations supplement the cost for the whole event.
All participants should bring a sleeping bag or flat sheets/blankets, pillows, towels, and toiletries. Some limited alternative house is available for adults not needed as counselors.
We strongly encourage everyone to register as soon as possible.
No registrations will be accepted after October 9, 2015.
